GMC Hummer EV’s Power Beneath the Hood
The word “awesome” tends to be thrown around pretty loosely nowadays, but it’s hard to speak of the new Hummers without employing that term. The Hummer pickup, for example, a crew cab with a five-foot bed, produces up to 1000 hp and up to 11,500 lb.-ft. of torque, and weighs in at over 9,000 lbs.
With all that battery weight underneath the floor, the new Hummer, like many electric vehicles, has a low center of gravity and handles quite well going down the road and holding curves.
With its 800-volt system and 350 kW charging capability, its Ultium battery pack delivers a driving range of up to 329 miles on a charge. It can be charged via fast-charging stations, regular public charging stations, or even at home with a supplied adaptor.
Comfort and Convenience of the GMC Hummer EV Pick-Up and SUV
The Electric GMC Hummer boasts the full complement of comfort, convenience, driver assist, safety, and connectivity features one would expect. Features include but are not limited to, a 13.4″ touchscreen, Wi-Fi, Google navigation, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability, adaptive cruise control, automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and lane-keeping assist with lane-departure warning. It also features Super Cruise, GM’s hands-free driving system, to ensure safety you can rely on.
It also features removable transparent roof panels reminiscent of GM’s T-Top models of the ’70s and ’80s, and the panels can be stored onboard in special stowage cases in the Hummer’s front trunk compartment.

There’s so much to love about this electric vehicle, but the off-road capabilities of the new GMC Hummer really shine through. With innovative performance-enhancing features found almost nowhere else, GMC has unveiled a vehicle that is ready to handle all of life’s adventures.
Perhaps the most striking of the off-road capabilities are the Crab Walk feature, which employs 4-wheel steering to allow the vehicle to maneuver around obstacles by moving diagonally at low speed. The steerable rear wheels also give the 8 ft. long Hummer the same turning radius as the subcompact Chevy Bolt.

The Hummer has 4-wheel fully-independent air suspension, with 13″ of travel both front and rear. It has impressive approach, departure, and break-over angles, and with almost 16″ of ground clearance, it can be increased by 4″ in Extract Mode. The Hummer can climb over an 18″ vertical wall and ford water up to 32″ deep. And its belly is flat, essentially making the vehicle’s underside one big skid plate.
There are, conveniently, two underside cameras, among 18 cameras onboard the pickup and 17 on the SUV in the available Ultra vision system. The ones underneath are a boon when rock-crawling, for example, and can eliminate the need for a spotter to direct the driver. They also have remote-controlled lens washers for when they become obscured by mud. Also, the special 35″ tires can be deflated from a control on the console for rock-crawling, although re-inflation must still be done manually.
